Hello everyone.
As we all know the final grand slam tournament of the year is being played through August 28th ~ September 10th. Who will be crowned the 2017 men’s and women’s champion? And wait, here are some interesting facts about the U.S. Open.
US OPEN was first played on Grass!
- 1881 National championship at Newport Casino, Rhode Island
West Side Tennis club in Forest Hills, NYC
- 1968 was when All 5 events (men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles, & women’s doubles) held in 1 place
What??? The US Open was played on Clay!
- 1975 change of surface to clay from grass court
The National Tennis Center Hard court
- 1978 Surface change to hard court
- New location: The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York
